Welcome to the 600th episode of the Vassals of Kingsgrave! We begin with some chat from the VOK Curators  about the status of the fandom and what will come next for VOK in the absence of a new book. Your hosts are Casey/Blue-Eyed-Queen; Hashtag Greg/ClaudiusTheFool; Adam/Drownedsnow; Zack/Alias; Bina007, the Podcast Bard/Jed O’White Hart and a guest appearance from Nadia.

At 41m, we move to the penultimate episode of the reread but the final chapter episode!  We cover the final two linear timeline chapters of A Dance With Dragons – Dany 10 and Jon 13 – both taking place at an unspecified time in late July to – late August 300 AL.  To do so we reunite some of the hosts of the first two episodes of the reread – published back in August 2015 – Thomas/FTWard; Brett/Whiteraven; Michael/Mordion; Matt/Varley and Bina007.  And we also get two special songs from the Podcast Bard.

The podcast is dark and full of spoilers for all works in George R R Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series but for Game of Thrones, the TV show.

Ironmen get flayed – a Prince is Tattered – and a woman wanders around Westeros without a clue in the 78th episode of the epic linear ASOIAF reread. Join Bina, Varley, Adam, Zack, Marie and Jock as they wade balls-deep into FeastDance, with Reek/Theon 2, Quentyn 2/The Windblown at 18m, and Brienne 5 at 29m. These events take place between the 5th and 9th April 300.

The aftershow starts at 45m with the superb Moot Of The World song by Ged O’White Hart!

The Battle of the Blackwater continues and concludes with the next episode of the ASOIAF linear reread.

Join hosts Blue-Eyed-Queen/Casey, Nymeria/Marie, Munrojock2/Jock, White Raven/Brett, drownedsnow/Adam, IronRuhail/Ruhail, Ser Patrick the Tall/Patrick, and Bina007/Bina.

This episode will cover Sansa 6, Tyrion 14 and Sansa 7 – finishing the events of 7th September 299. We see a little bit into the making of Cersei, Tyrion’s battle skills, and the last interaction between Sansa and Sandor Clegane before he flees Kings Landing. These are all consecutive chapters in the published order of A Clash of Kings.

Beware of Spoilers, The following podcast discusses spoilers for all published (and unpublished) books in A Song of Ice and Fire, and all aired episodes of Game of Thrones

Before all show watchers agonise over what will befall our favourite characters in Season 7, WolfCast and KrakenCast join forces and look back to Season 6 and test out their Game of Thrones trivia in “A Game Show of Thrones”: The cruelest Game Show in Media!

Glen (Dagos_Rivers) hosts and quizzes the four contestants (Duncan (Valkyrist), Jed (Jed o’white Hart), Claire (DarkSister24) and Hannah (Shadow_ baby)) over characters, obscure random facts, and comparing characters to Disney characters. Glen is also evil to the non-brits by asking a lot of questions about popular british shows; evil to non-Americans by asking questions about the HBO schedule and deducts as high as 500 points (Dragons) per player for a wrong answer.

-Hannah gets very tipsy (or maybe that was left on the cutting room floor…)

In this episode of the epic linear re-read of Game of Thrones the Vassals cover Cat 6, Ned 10, Ned 11 and Sansa 3, which sees Cat arriving at the Eyrie, Ned’s infamous Tower of Joy reminiscences and Sansa fatefully being told she is being sent away from King’s Landing. VoK 232: Panspermia! aka The Great Linear ASOIAF ReRead (Part 1)

In the first in a new series of VOK-casts, the Vassals return to their roots with a linear re-read of George R R Martin’s A Song Of Ice And Fire.  This episode covers events from June 297 to March 298. This translates to the following chapters in Game of Thrones: the Prologue, Dany 1 (21 mins), Dany 2 (37 mins), Bran 1 (48 mins), Cat 1 (1hr 9m) and Dany 3 (1 hr 18m) in that order.  Whiteraven then shares his theory of why seasons change (1hr 28m).  In doing this re-read we are hugely indebted to the reddit author who compiled the linear timeline linked below.

Spoilers:  All published novels in the ASOIAF series but neither spoiler chapters for The Winds of Winter nor the latest season of Game of Thrones.

VoK 130: Full Cast(le) Recording #6 – High Noon at the Tower of Joy

In the latest Full Cast(le) Recording, the Vassals get inside Ned Stark’s head and flashback to the Tower of Joy during Robert’s Rebellion. We meet some badass Kingsguard and discover the roots of R+L=J, as well as enjoying several cups of Arbor Gold with Robert and Cersei, while Ned recovers from Jaime’s attack.

The FCR proper ends at 14:35 and is followed by an Aftershow in which we tackle all things Kingsguard, ponder some interesting “what-if” scenarios, and generally agree that Criston Cole was the worst.

VoK 89: WolfCast – “Breaker of Chains” aka Flipper of Tables (S04E03 Review)

Welcome to this week’s remarkably calm and silly Wolfcast review of The Breaker of Chains, in which Shellfish (Peter) decries the lack of krakens in Denmark; the Podcast Bard (Jed) advocates the use of Molestown condoms; Patrick The Tall baptises Middlefinger “Petyrphile”;  Nadia flips all kinds of tables; Imogen.OB suspects the Nordic contingent’s knowledge of Molestown brothels; Regula Roone (Seif) wonders if we will see Satin and Bina007 wonders what FTWard’s problem is with potatoes.

If you just want to get to the discussion of the notorious Jaime-Cersei crypt scene, it starts at 1h17m.  The unusually long and gag-free aftershow begins at 1h41m. It is surprisingly earnest and covers everything from Westerosi religion to the importance of direwolves to the Stark children to the nature of Bloodraven and more besides.
