The dog’s bollocks, Inspector Knacker, moon dragons and Public Service Announcements? It must be the fourteenth instalment of the epic linear ASOIAF re-read! This week the Vassals discuss events from the week of the 9 to 17th January 299 which includes our first chapter from A Clash of Kings.

Noah (Pops88) gets emotional about Ned’s untimely end in Arya 5 at 3m. Nadia and Bina007 ship SanSan in Sansa 6 at 31m. Kelvin (Brum Riverlander) leads the discussion on his favourite chapter in the series, Cat 11 at 44m. Casey (Blue Eyed Queen) takes us into Clash of Kings with Arya 1 at 1hr5m. Scott (Shaggydog) takes us to Tyrion 9 at 1hr 21m, and Tanja (Scilens) and Patrick (Ser Patrick The Tall) are the Statler and Waldorf of the episode.

The aftershow begins at 1hr 55m and At 2hr 2m we have a detailed discussion about the exact order of events between the battle of the Whispering Wood and Green Fork and the precise location of the Inn at the Crossroads.

In the third part of our linear re-read the Fellowship of Vassals expands both in numbers and chapters covered. We go through the events of May and June 298 which sees an assassination attempt on Bran, Tyrion go north to the wall, Ned go south with Robert, and Dany visiting Vaes Dothrak. Naturally, the podcast contains spoilers for all works in the Song of Ice and Fire series as well as HBO’s Game of Thrones.

This week, Wolfcast joins the Night’s Watch as they fight off the Wildling army in two simultaneous battles at the Wall. Patrick the Tall leads Imogen.OB, Nadia, Alix (Aiwendil), Peter (Shellfish), Jan (LeechLord), Kelvin (Brum Riverlander) and Eddie (Teddard) in a particularly derailed… ahem, I mean detailed discussion of Watchers on the Wall. Starting around 2 hours and 10 minutes, the aftershow contains talk of George RR Martin’s legacy, an upcoming Game of Thrones Telltale game, Sir Christopher Lee’s badassery, podcast fanfiction and more!

VoK 107: WolfCast – “The Mountain and the Wiper” (S04E08 Review)

Wolfcast tackles the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Due to a pressing cricket emergency, the reins of the podcast are unceremoniously thrust upon an ornery and sleep-deprived Shellfish (Peter) who desperately tries to keep the sled on track as posh birds Bina (Bina007) and Imogen (Imogen.OB), béret wearing baguette toter Alix (Aiwendil), the vertically endowed windmill operator Patrick (Patrick the Tall), viper-mourner Nadia (Nadia) and newcomer Kelvin (Brum Riverlander) discuss the geography of the North, evil dresses, crimes against Manwoody, duelling laws in France and everything inbetween.
