Amanda (Middlecylone) and Bina007 discuss Stella Gibbons’ hilarious 1932 novel satirising rural melodramas, as well as the 1995 British film adaptation starring Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Fry and Rufus Sewell. There is much mollocking, clettering, and heaving of porridge, not to mention some of the worst West Country accents committed to tape.
